Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books That Broke My Heart A Little

Today, I’m participating in The Broke and Bookish’sweekly feature Top Ten Tuesday. The team at The Broke and Bookish have declared that they are going anti-Valentine’s Day this year and designated today’s topic:

Top Ten Books That Broke My Heart A Little

1. Delirium by Lauren Oliver: The end of this book? Holy cliffhanger and tears…

2. Cross Currents by John Shors: A book about the earthquake and tsunami in Thailand? With more than 230,000 deaths from one terrible natural disaster, it honestly doesn’t get much more sad than this.

3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: UGH. I almost get teary-eyed just THINKING about this book. I remember sobbing while reading this one…

4. All The Things You Are by Courtney Sheinmel: In this book, a pre-teenager deals with some pretty heavy family stuff, and my heart went out to her.

5. Wish by Alexandra Bullen: I adored this book, but it made me so sad that Olivia lost her twin, her other half, even if she was able to get closure throughout the course of this book.

6. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: This book made me C-R-Y my little eyes out. I described it as “beautifully haunting” and I don’t think I can sum it up any better than that.

7. Skinny by Diana Spechler: This one deals with eating disorders and trying to find the line between too thin and healthy.

8. Fourth Comings by Megan McCafferty: Jessica and Marcus Flutie apart in this book? Heartbreaking.

9. The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson: The final note from Ginny’s aunt got me a little choked up, I have to admit.

10. Other Words For Love by Lorraine Zago Rosenthal: Sigh. Scenes from this book brought me right back to the very moment when my first real relationship ended. Definitely a tearjerker.

What are some books you’ve read that have tugged at your heartstrings?

  1. I agree with book on your list, especially with Fourth Comings. If it wasn’t for Perfect Fifths, I would’ve had a meltdown. 😛

  2. Ugh, Other Words For Love . . . I adored that book, but it definitely broke my heart! And completely agree about Marcus and Jessica. Which is why I loved Perfect Fifths so much!

  3. I kind of feel like for this week a blanket HARRY POTTER on everyone’s post would have worked nicely, ha, I know I put HP 6’s ending on my list, I’ve seen 7, and 5 is just as heartbreaking. I love this series so much <3
