The 10 Most Popular Posts on the Get Gutsy Blog in 2015

get gutsy- Jessica LawlorWith 2015 quickly drawing to a close, it’s time for some much-needed end-of-year reflection!

I always become a little more introspective in December, taking time to think back on the previous year and begin to plan ahead for what’s to come. One of my favorite tasks each December is taking a look at the most popular blog posts I’ve written and published here on the Get Gutsy blog.

In 2015, I published 126 posts.

In between my weekly Start Your Week Right Sunday roundups and monthly check-ins, I published dozens of posts on all kinds of topics: yoga, dating, getting gutsy, work/life balance, productivity, body image, burnout and so much more.

Here are the 10 most popular posts on the Get Gutsy blog in 2015:

1. My Journey to Becoming a Yoga Teacher: One Day Before Yoga Teacher Training Begins

2. Demystifying Dating: Answers to Your Dating Questions From 5 Real Dudes

3. Do You Follow “The Rules”? Getting Real About Dating

4. Get Inspired With The Second Annual Get Gutsy Week

5. A Reverse To-Do List: Why What You Say NO to Matters More Than You Think

6. Demystifying Dating Part 2: Answers to Your Dating Questions From 5 Real Women

7. I Taught My First Yoga Class

8. Making Peace With My Body

9. How Do You Envision Your Future?

10. Shine Your Light: 8 Takeaways From World Domination Summit 2015

More important than just sharing these posts, I use this list as a way to check in with you, the Get Gutsy community, to see what types of posts resonate with you and which topics you clearly enjoy reading about.

Here’s what this list tells me:

  • Many of you enjoy reading yoga-related posts. There was definitely mixed feedback on yoga content in the Get Gutsy survey a few weeks ago, but my Analytics tell me that these are among some of my most read posts. Two posts in the above list were yoga-related- even if you can’t relate to the topic of yoga, many of you choose to support me in my goals and dreams and as this was a big one for me in 2015, you definitely delivered by reading, commenting and sharing these posts. I was somewhat surprised that the #1 post of the entire year was the first in my yoga teacher training series, but I’m glad to see that you all followed me along for the ride.
  • DATING was a big trend, both here on the blog and in my personal life (ha!) in 2015. Three posts of the 10 above are about the wonderful world of dating in 2015. The top post, no surprise there, was my post titled “Demystifying Dating” where I interviewed real dudes about dating and relationships. The other most popular was the second part of that series where I flipped the coin and interviewed real women about dating, as well. Dating isn’t something I ever really planned on sharing much about on the blog, but I find it’s something on my mind and I’m happy to see that many of you can relate and enjoy reading about this topic, too.
  • You’re still loving the posts where I’m at my most vulnerable. The Internet is filled with fake things. Happy social media posts when you’re really feeling anything but; cheery blog posts when you’d rather be doing anything but writing. I always aim to be real here on the blog and I think you know and appreciate that. Several of my posts on the list showcase me at my most vulnerable (hello bikini picture and getting real about body image issues).
  • Productivity and business chat is still a priority. Just as I evolve and change as a person, so too does this blog. No doubt, the type of content I share has changed over the past three years. However, one thing you still love are my posts about productivity. My reverse to-do list post and tips for saying NO made this top 10 list and other biz-related posts were in my overall top 25. This tells me that while some of you are here to get gutsy and step outside your comfort zone, others of you are looking to me for blog/biz/branding advice. I hear you, loud and clear! More of that to come in 2016.
  • The Get Gutsy Interview Series isn’t as popular as it used to be. I’ve been thinking about retiring the Get Gutsy Interview series now that we’ve completed a full year of interviews. I even asked about it in the Get Gutsy Survey (results coming soon!) and the Analytics for those posts give me even more confirmation that these likely aren’t the most useful tactic to share great stories of others who step outside their comfort zones. These posts don’t seem to be read and enjoyed as much as some of the other type of content I’m sharing here. More to come!
  • 2015 posts were great, but content from 2014 and 2013 still reign supreme. I’d venture to guess I’m not alone in this, but I have several posts from 2013 and 2014 whose numbers absolutely crush the numbers of my 2015 posts. Consider this: the top post on this list received a little more than 1,000 pageviews. The most popular post on my blog of all time (tips for waking up early, in case you were wondering) has more than 23,000 pageviews. Don’t discount your older or archived content- take time to refresh those posts, promote them and ensure that newer members of your audience still see your best stuff.

PS- Check out my top posts from 2014 and 2013. Good stuff on those lists, too!
