Each monthly check-in, I share three things I accomplished in the previous month and preview three things I’m excited about or hoping to accomplish in the month ahead. It’s fun to look back and forward, and as an added bonus, these monthly check-ins keep me accountable to reach my goals.
I hope you’ll join in and share your three things in the comments section! I’ve been thrilled to see that other bloggers enjoy my monthly check-ins and have adopted the format for their own blogs- this is AWESOME! If you write a similar monthly check-in/look ahead post, please feel free to utilize this format and be sure to leave a link in the comments below so we can all support you in your goals for the coming month!
In November, I…
1. Taught, taught, taught! In November, I started teaching my second weekly yoga class. Now I teach every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and every Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. I also subbed up a storm in November and in total taught 11 times at three different studios. Wow! I also hit a new milestone and taught my 25th yoga class- I detailed the lessons I’ve learned from teaching so far in this blog post. I’m loving teaching and starting to feel more confident in writing flows, owning the space when teaching and connecting with my students. Can’t wait to see where this teaching journey takes me next!
2. Traveled to New York City for a birthday celebration. One of my best friends, Kelsie, turned 30 this month! To celebrate, we headed to NYC for a fun weekend! I’m usually not the biggest NYC fan (I know, I know), but it turns out, when you do NYC with someone who really knows the city, it can be amazing. Our day started off with mani/pedis and from there we got blowouts and got ready for a night out on the town. We had an awesome Mexican dinner and then headed to a really swanky rooftop hotel bar for the birthday celebration. On Sunday, we took advantage of unseasonably warm November weather and walked the High Line and scoured out good spots for yoga pictures. On the car ride home, Kelsie and I learned that the post we wrote about dating and whirlwind romances had been officially published by Elephant Journal. Overall, an amazing weekend!
3. Indulged in lots of fall fun! November was a crazy busy, packed month! I attended a couple of different yoga workshops- a YinYasa special class and an inversions workshop focused on headstand and forearmstand. As mentioned, I spent a weekend in New York and then spent the following weekend continuing my friends birthday celebration here in Philly. I ran a two-mile race through a local holiday light show. My post was published by Elephant Journal! The month ended with an awesome Gobble Wobble 5K race and delicious Thanksgiving dinner. My sister and I enjoyed a spa day and I finally found a new hair stylist that I love. Overall, a busy, but awesome month! No complaints here.
In December, I will…
1. Get myself, blog and business organized. December and the start of a New Year always makes me feel inspired to get organized. With doing more freelance work and teaching yoga as another source of income, I have many different spreadsheets and systems I’m setting up for accounting purposes. I also have lots of blog ideas for this month and next as we head into 2016. I’m planning to take on more freelance work in 2016 (if you’re looking for a writer/content producer/editor/PR pro, etc., please reach out!) I’m using your feedback to help shape the future of my blog/biz, so if you haven’t already, please take my quick survey!
2. Enjoy holiday fun and celebrations. The holidays are in full swing! I’ve got our Annual Lawlor Cookie Swap on the agenda, the Temple Women’s Network Glitter & Glad Tidings holiday party, lots of work holiday events, my yoga studio holiday party and more on the calendar for December. Whew! Lots of celebrating happening this month! In between all of that, I’m also doing a girls day out with some of my friends to check out the lights and holiday happenings in town and planning a day with my mom and sister to check out Christmas in Bethlehem, about an hour away from where we live. Somewhere in there, I’ll find time to Christmas shop, too…Oh, and RIGHT after the New Year, I’m heading to Jamaica, so I’ll also be thinking about and planning for that!
3. Take time for myself. Not to be a grinch or anything, but the holidays definitely stress me out. I find it really hard to enjoy or even be excited about this time of year because of how quickly everything seems to go and all of the pressure associated with the holidays. This month, I’m really trying to protect my time and energy by getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, practicing yoga and continuing T25 each day. I’m aiming to really take care of myself over the next few weeks to help combat any of that anxiety and come to each event or happening as my best self. Anyone else feel this way around the holidays?
