The Sweetest Girls Weekend

Nothing can top the fabulousness that was last weekend. A weekend filled with best friends, fluffly yellow robes, chocolate massages and Hershey Kisses simply can’t be beat.

Let me back up.

I have these three best friends: Reilly, Melissa and Erica. In 2009, we studied abroad in Rome together.

This is us in Venice. Pretty as a postcard.

So in May 2010, we graduated from college, got jobs and entered the real world and all that  fun stuff. Even though we don’t live too far from one another, for some reason, it was impossible to coordinate a time that we could all get together. So back in the summer, we started planning for a girls weekend. It wasn’t difficult to decide where to go….immediately, we settled on the beautiful Hotel Hershey and Chocolate Spa.

This is where we stayed. Fancy schmancy.

We arrived early in the afternoon on Saturday and took a tour of the beautiful hotel grounds. Hershey is a seriously adorable city with much to offer from the park, to the spa, to the chocolate factory. There is so much amazing history in Hershey, and we were lucky that my friend works for the company and was able to share insider tips and lots of stories with us about the town.

My four best friends...just hanging out in Hershey.
We ate delicious cupcakes.

Before our first spa service, we stopped for a quick snack in the hotel. Who am I to turn down cupcakes? Then, we headed to the Chocolate Spa which was conveniently located in our hotel. And OH MY GOODNESS…the moment I entered the spa, I was blissfully happy. I turned my cell phone off, stuck it in a locker, wrapped myself in the fluffy yellow robes provided and hung out in the Gingerbread Room (YEP. A gingerbread room) while I waited for my facial appointment.

Heavenly.

My facial was awesome. I’ve never had one before and wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was extremely relaxing. After our facials, we hung out in the various relaxation rooms reading magazines, sipping on hot cocoa and of course and stuffing our faces with endless Hershey Kisses, which were available in literally every single room. There were no clocks (also amazing, but somewhat anxiety inducing for someone like me who likes sticking to schedules) and we finally went to check and realized we had twenty minutes until our dinner reservations. We ran to our room to change and headed to dinner at Trevi 5, the Italian restaurant in the hotel.

Hanging out by the fake Italian fountain...just trying to re-live our time in Roma.

After dinner, we headed to the Iberian Lounge and ordered chocolate martinis….super strong, but had to order one simply because I was in Hershey!

Chocolate martinis
Chocolate martinis. Way too strong.

On Sunday morning we woke up and headed straight to the spa. We spent some time in the steam room and then went to one of the relaxation rooms to wait for our appointments. First up on my schedule for the day was a pumpkin body wrap. It was AWESOME. I had pumpkin lotion slathered all over my body and then was wrapped in this plastic stuff and warm towels in a little cocoon. While that was sinking into my skin, the woman gave me a scalp massage. After a few minutes, she removed my cocoon and my skin felt amazing.

After the wrap, I headed straight for my chocolate massage, which was 50 minutes of pure fabulousness. Afterward, I basically smelled like a chocolate covered pumpkin and while I would have preferred never to have showered again, I didn’t think my colleagues would appreciate that.

When we had each finished our spa services for the day, we went to the Oasis Lounge for lunch…the food was delicious and the best party about it was that the restaurant was for spa guests only, so we were all lounging in our robes. After lunch, we packed up and got on the road to head home. I wish I could have stayed and tried all of the amazing services.

If you live anywhere within driving distance to Hershey, I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this hotel and taking advantage of the Chocolate Spa…the people who work there are so kind and professional. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and the chocolate available at every turn is a huge bonus.

One summer abroad...a lifetime of friendship

The four of us have decided that every year we’ll have a reunion during the first weekend in November. Any suggestions for next year? We’re thinking somewhere in Florida!

  1. That sounds like fun! I’ve never been to Hershey, but now a trip might be in my future!

You might need a little more than the weekend, but Disney is always a great place for a girls trip. I did that with my friends a couple years ago and we had so much fun.

  2. What a sweet (literally!) and wonderful way to reconnect with old friends! Looks like tons of fun, and I can’t imagine how awesome it would be to hang out in a gingerbread room. Pretty much my idea of heaven.

As for next year’s recommendations, you could always do Vegas! 🙂 Can get a little pricey, depending on what the plan is, but we always have an awesome time there. Tons to see and do, and lots of wonderful shopping. 🙂

  3. Fun times! I absolutely adore Hershey–daughter & I visited in February AND June this past year LOL There’s so much to do, even when the theme park is closed–but I cannot wait until she’s old enough to do all the fun spa stuff! Several years ago we were up for a weekend and I treated myself to a day a the spa, and a sugar scrub & chocolate body wrap–OMG so freakin’ amazing!
