The Family That Reads Together…

Remember that time my family went to Ocean City, NJ for vacation and had a professional photo shoot on the beach? I shared a few of the photos in this post, but I just got the whole album from Rachel at Hello Gorgeous Photography and knew I needed to share these gems with you..

*WARNING: Extremely dorky photos ahead*

Yes, yes. This is my whole family reading on the beach. For a professional photo shoot. And guess what? This photo wasn’t even MY idea. Despite what you may think, I wasn’t even the one who suggested bringing books as props; it was my brother’s idea (someone must have taught him well…)

In case you were wondering, here’s what we’re all reading:

Matthew: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Dad: Now You See Her by James Patterson

Jamie: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Mom: One Summer by David Baldacci

Me: Thin Rich Pretty by Beth Harbison

I know. We are so dorky, it can’t even be explained in words. But I think it’s pretty cool that my sister is reading one of my favorite books of 2011 and that my brother is reading one of the most famous YA books since Harry Potter and Twilight.

By the way, we DID take normal family pictures too, I promise. And now that I’m done sufficiently embarrassing myself…

  1. I LOVE these pictures! I called home the other night (I live several states away) and when I asked my mom what was up, she said that my brother, she and my dad were all sitting in the living room reading (my younger brother and sister were already in bed). I am SO glad I come from a family of readers since it’s what I can be found doing about 30% of the day!

  2. Those pictures are so sweet! (And so bookish–a perfect combo!) I wish my family were like yours–I’m the only one that really reads. Well, except for my aunt but her taste is very different from mine and we don’t discuss books or anything fun ;(

I’m reading Divergent right now and it is AWESOME so far. I think I’ll have to add Four to my list of literary crushes…

  3. These pictures are AWESOME!! It’s so great that your entire family enjoys reading and even better that you take family photos of doing it 🙂
