Hello from Ocean City, New Jersey! I’ve been coming down the shore since I was a baby and needless to say, it’s one of my favorite places in the world. When I’m here, I’m completely calm, relaxed and happy. Oh, and inspired. I get some of my best ideas here. Must be all that salty air.
Anyway, since I’m doing everything but reading this vacation (even after agonizing over which books to bring) I figured I’d give you a little picture update on what I’ve been up to this week.
Crossing over the bridge into gorgeous Ocean City…my little piece of heaven.
Hanging out on our porch. Perfect for early morning reading and writing.
Eating way too much delicious food…like this lovely Mack n Manco’s slice. We’ve also had sausage and meatballs, spaghetti, delicious sandwiches, waffles…you name it, it’s been consumed in our house.
Witnessing one of the craziest storms of my life and then watching little kids literally play on floats in the flooded streets. Oh, and I tweeted a picture of this to ABC and NBC in Philadelphia and NBC ended up showing my picture on their 6 p.m. news. Pretty awesome!
Biking on the boardwalk. I was worried about vacation getting me off my 6 days a week workout schedule, but surprisingly, I’ve been working out even more here! Running and biking on the boardwalk is SO much more fun than hitting the gym at 5 a.m. to run on the treadmill. Although the delicious smell of donuts along the boards makes my workouts a bit tough…
My favorite part of my vacation so far was our family beach photo shoot. My mom has wanted family photos on the beach for as long as I can remember, so with her 50th birthday coming up, I decided to schedule a photo shoot. I hired my amazing friend Rachel who owns her own photography business, Hello Gorgeous Photography. She came to OCNJ and took INCREDIBLE pictures of my fam. Below are a few of the previews she posted on her Facebook page last night. I can’t wait to see the rest!

As you can probably tell, I am L-O-V-I-N-G vacation so far. Two more full days to go, and I couldn’t be happier. Hopefully, I’ll get some reading done in these next two days! And writing too…what better place to start a new story idea?

Aww, your family looks so happy — and yes, those pictures are fab. Especially love the second one with the sun over your heads — reminds me of the covers for Jenny Han’s Summer series! Ocean City looks super fun — and reminds me of our Ocean City in Maryland. I’ll be leaving for the Outer Banks next week and can’t wait!
