Waiting On Wednesday

Today, I’m participating in Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. This event highlights the upcoming releases that we are eagerly awaiting!

Today, I am waiting for…

The List by Siobhan Vivian (April 2012 by Push)

I know the release of this book is SO far away, but I keep coming across amazing 2012 releases that I want to highlight. As much as I don’t want to wish the rest of 2011 away, I am pumped for all of the 2012 books I’ve seen so far. Definitely including this one…

Check out this Goodreads summary:

An intense look at the rules of high school attraction-and the price that’s paid for them.

It happens every year. A list is posted, and one girl from each grade is chosen as the prettiest, and another is chosen as the ugliest. Nobody knows who makes the list. It almost doesn’t matter. The damage is done the minute it goes up.

This is the story of eight girls, freshman to senior, “pretty” and “ugly.” And it’s also the story of how we see ourselves, and how other people see us, and the tangled connection of the two.

How amazing does this sound? I read Vivian’s other novel NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL earlier this year and loved how true to reality the book was, and this one sounds like it’s going to take a raw look at high school, as well. The idea of a list certainly intrigues me, and I can’t wait to see how Vivian tackles this awesome plot.

What are you anxiously waiting for this Wednesday?

  1. Oh wow, I love the sounds of this book! It sounds like one of those books that’ll be funny and entertaining, but also have a really good, deeper message 🙂 Thanks for sharing this one, I hadn’t heard of it until now!

You can see my WoW for this week at the link below! Happy reading,

  2. You and Anna are WonW twins this week! I can’t wait for this one to come out (even though I haven’t read Not That Kind of Girl)…

  3. I feel like I’ve read the summary before, but I don’t remember where. It looks sooooooo good though!!!! I can’t believe we have to wait until April to read it, but I bet it’ll be so worth it! Thanks for sharing this one!

    Here’s my WoW!

  4. It’s funny that we selected the same book. I had just found out about it on Tuesday. I actually had another book selected and ready to post. I cannot get enough of Siobhan’s novels, it’s too bad that more people don’t know about her (or if they do, they aren’t blogging about it too much). Great choice – too bad we have to wait until April, but I’m sure it will be totally worth it.
