Each monthly check-in, I share three things I accomplished in the previous month and preview three things I’m excited about or hoping to accomplish in the month ahead. It’s fun to look back and forward, and as an added bonus, these monthly check-ins keep me accountable to reach my goals.
I hope you’ll join in and share your three things in the comments section! I’ve been thrilled to see that other bloggers enjoy my monthly check-ins and have adopted the format for their own blogs- this is AWESOME! If you write a similar monthly check-in/look ahead post, please feel free to utilize this format and be sure to leave a link in the comments below so we can all support you in your goals for the coming month!
In August, I…
1. Continued my yoga teaching journey. August was an awesome month for teaching yoga! I taught seven times at Dana Hot Yoga and one time at a new-to-me studio, Stillpoint Yoga in King of Prussia. I’m now on the sub list at Stillpoint, so I’m excited for more opportunities to teach there and get to know the studio better. As I continue to teach more, I’m becoming more confident in myself and way more comfortable in front of my students. I taught a new flow this whole month and worked with two different themes, so I’m feeling good about that. Also, I’m SO excited because I’ve begun working with a wonderful woman named Jennifer Kreatsoulas who owns Chime Yoga and Mentoring. I was introduced to Jennifer by my good friend Julia who thought we’d be a perfect match to work together- she was right! Jennifer specializes in mentoring new yoga teachers and helping them come into their own. In exchange, I’ve been helping Jennifer with her blog/branding. She’s amazing! More to come about my work with Jennifer in a future post.
2. Soaked up the last amazing month of summer. August was a whirlwind of fun! I feel so grateful to have found such a solid group of friends that I can count on each and every week for something fun, meaningful or exciting to do. August brought pool parties and two awesome beach days at Belmar Beach with my good friend Kelsie. The beginning of the month included wedding dress shopping with my friend Rachel (I’m a bridesmaid in her wedding!) She looked stunning and I can’t wait until her wedding this May. I road tripped to Hershey in August (If you missed my epic Snapchat story from that day, I’m sorry…be sure to follow me for more awesome snaps: jessicalawlor) and went on the roller coasters and saw Maroon 5 with Janelle. I said goodbye to my sweet friend Lindsey, who moved with her family to NY, at an awesome goodbye party. Basically, August was filled with fun, delicious food and drinks, good friends and lots of smiles and laughs. Just the way I like it!
3. Had an epic blog month. Wow. August 2015 will go down in history as my best blog month to date since April of 2014. A lot of that great success came from a little series I started called “Demystifying Dating.” After reading a not-so-awesome book about the rules of dating, I was inspired to interview real guys and girls to get their honest take on dating, love and relationships. My post interviewing five real guys was my highest blog traffic day pretty much ever and the follow-up post featuring six beautiful ladies did well, too. The series was seriously insightful for me, as well. Look for a follow-up post sometime in the future with what I learned from this whole thing. I’m pretty proud of my other posts from August too, a post on body image and another on why it’s so important to let others know that you believe in them. I felt so inspired to blog in August! I hope that continues through the fall.
In September, I will…
1. Squeeze in a few more weeks of warm-weather fun. Even though this weekend marks the unofficial end to summer, I’m still squeezing in a few more weeks of warm-weather fun! I have plans this month to check out Nightscape at Longwood Gardens, one more Phillies game, a 5K, wine tasting and more. Oh, and this isn’t an outdoor activity, but on September 20, the Temple Women’s Network is hosting it’s Second Annual Brunch, featuring keynote speaker Lu Ann Cahn. I’m so excited! I think one of the keys to happiness is always having something awesome to look forward to and looking at my September calendar just makes me smile. So much fun ahead!
2. Yoga, yoga, yoga. Seeing a trend here? 🙂 I don’t have any sub opportunities on the books for September (yet!), but I’m writing a new flow in case one pops up and for my weekly lunchtime yoga class at work. I’m also attending a few workshops this month: Glow With The Flow (blacklight yoga! So much fun!) and Yinyasa, a combination Vinyasa/Yin class and the first in a series called Advancing Your Vinyasa Transitions. I’ll also continue weekly meetings with Jennifer, my yoga mentor.
3. Travel to Erie, PA. I’ve never been to Erie, PA and it’s not somewhere that’s ever been on my to-visit list, but that doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to it! I’m heading to Erie for a PR conference for work and I’ve heard lots of good things about the town. Minus the fact that it’s almost impossible to get to (seriously, there are LIMITED flights from Philly), I am excited. Because transportation was so challenging, I’m going to be driving there (hello 7-hour drive!) Luckily, I’ll have an awesome co-pilot in my friend and colleague Kaitie. Anything I should definitely check out while I’m in Erie?
