2014 is just around the corner! In preparation for a brand new year, I want to challenge you to reflect on how you reached your goals in 2013 and plot out how you can be more gutsy and do just that in 2014.

Was 2013 all you hoped it would be? Did you step outside your comfort zone to do things you once never thought possible?

Do you have big plans for 2014? Bright, shiny, big goals you want to crush in the New Year?

I want to hear all about it.

I’m beyond excited to announce the first-ever #GetGutsy Essay Contest!

How To Enter

1. Write your #GetGutsy story. No rules here. Your story can be short. It might be long. It might be written in essay form or you might choose to write a list. You can look back at one specific experience from 2013 or include a whole bunch of experiences. Perhaps you want to look forward and write about your plans for 2014. The only requirement here is that you explain what “getting gutsy” means to you and how you embodied those qualities in 2013 or plan to become more gutsy in the New Year.

2. Publish the story on your blog. If you don’t have your own blog, you can still participate! Borrow a friend’s blog for the day, create a quick and easy Tumblr account or publish on a free site like Medium that allows you to submit your own content.

3. Include the following blurb at the beginning or end of your post:

Getting gutsy is all about stepping outside your comfort zone to reach your goals. I’m participating in Jessica Lawlor’s #GetGutsy Essay Contest. To get involved and share your own gutsy story, check out this post for contest details.

4. Email me the link to your post at jessicallawlor AT gmail DOT COM by January 5, 2014. That’s it! Simple and easy.

What Will Happen After January 5?

I’m declaring the week of January 6, 2014, #GetGutsy Week! What better way to start off a brand new year than by setting an intention to get more gutsy in 2014?

That week, I will publish the three best essays from the contest on my blog. Your post will be heavily promoted on my blog, e-newsletter and social media accounts to further spread the word about your fantastic work and story.

After that, for those who are interested, I’ll later be compiling all of the stories into a FREE crowdsourced inspirational ebook filled with your incredible stories about what it means to get gutsy.

Stay tuned for more details about other fun prizes and happenings for the week of January 6!
