Start Your Week Right Sunday: Links and Goals

Start your week right! Every Sunday I post my favorite links from around the web and share my goals for the upcoming week.

On Careers:

Forget Work-Life Balance: It’s Time for Work-Life BlendRon Ashkenas suggests forgetting work-life balance and considering what he calls “work-life blend” in this Forbes.com article. Not sure I one hundred percent agree with this one, but it’s an interesting read.

How to Bust Through a Plateau and Overcome a Career Slump: In a bit of a rut? Carrie Smith, blogger at Careful Cents opens up about going through a career slump and explains how she plans to get out of it.

Why Women Can’t Work Horizontally: My friend and fellow blogger Sarah Stackhouse highlights key learnings from the PA Conference for Women including why men work vertically and women work horizontally.

On Life:

The Thank You Note Project: LOVE this. Amy Estes, blogger at Coffee and Sunshine is embarking on a month-long thank you note project. She plans to send one thank you note every day in November.

Is There a Such Thing as a Healthy Perfectionist?: Friend and PR professional Niki Ianni wonders if there’s a healthy way to pursue perfection. As a fellow Type-A personality, I can totally relate.

On PR:

Look Who’s Back: My sister Jamie Lawlor (who you’ll quickly learn I completely adore and rave about constantly) has returned to blogging and shares an update on her PR and social media-filled semester.

Just For Fun:

25 Signs You’re In a Relationship With Your Phone: I can’t get enough of Thought Catalog lately, and this one by Chelsea Fagan is just too true! I can especially relate to number 2.

Goals

  • Get well! I’m not sure what happened, but on Friday my knee started hurting and when I tried to run my planned 6 miles yesterday, I had to cut it off at 3 because I was in pain. I want to concentrate on getting well, so I can complete my last two training runs before the Philadelphia Half Marathon strong.
  • Prepare for my Social Media Tourism Symposium (#SoMeT12) presentation! I leave for El Paso, Texas in a little over a week, and I have lots to do before then! Eeks.
  • Stop procrastinating. I’ve been putting off a few silly, little life things- making appointments, redeeming LivingSocial deals, etc. I have a to-do list full of random little things that I need to just focus on getting done.
