Waiting On Wednesday

Today, I’m participating in Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. This event highlights the upcoming releases that we are eagerly awaiting!

Today, I am waiting for…

Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brashares (June 14, 2011 by Random House)

As I was reading Jordyn’s fab blog last week, I saw that she featured this title in her Waiting On Wednesday post. I was immediately drawn to it as I’ve been a big fan of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series.

Check out this Goodreads summary:

Now Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget have grown up, starting their lives on their own. And though the jeans they shared are long gone, the sisterhood is everlasting.

Despite having jobs and men that they love, each knows that something is missing: the closeness that once sustained them. Carmen is a successful actress in New York, engaged to be married, but misses her friends. Lena finds solace in her art, teaching in Rhode Island, but still thinks of Kostos and the road she didn’t take. Bridget lives with her longtime boyfriend, Eric, in San Francisco, and though a part of her wants to settle down, a bigger part can’t seem to shed her old restlessness.

Then Tibby reaches out to bridge the distance, sending the others plane tickets for a reunion that they all breathlessly await. And indeed, it will change their lives forever””but in ways that none of them could ever have expected.

This sounds seriously fantastic! As much as I love YA books and books about teenagers, it’s sometimes refreshing to read adult books, especially when you already know the characters so well! It’s fun to see these characters learn and grow and get the chance to revisit them years later.

What are you anxiously waiting for this Wednesday?

  1. Oh…. I try not to think about this book. I want it so bad. Please stop reminding me — it’s making me covet — I think that’s a sin…..

  2. Can we say “perfect beach read”? Actually, I’m bummed because it publishes during the few days I actually will be at the beach this year! Still, super excited to read it — can’t wait to see the girls all grown up.

  3. I picked the same book too! I’m ridiculously excited for this one to come out. I felt like I knew the girls so well as teenagers, and I can’t wait to dive into their adult lives as well. ;D

  4. you don’t know how happy you made me this morning when you posted this!

i am sooooo excited that there is another sisterhood book. they are my favorites and it reminds me of being 17 and going off to college and my best friend and i mailing things to each other. i got books 2-4 the day they came out!

  5. The Sisterhood series was among the first books to get me hooked on YA so I’m really looking forward to this one! It’s such great surprise, and I’m hoping all the characters will get the happy endings they deserve.
