Waiting On Wednesday

Today, I’m participating in Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. This event highlights the upcoming releases that we are eagerly awaiting!

Today, I am waiting for…

The Liar Society by Lisa and Laura Roecker (March 1, 2011 by Sourcebooks Fire)

I’m super excited for this one for obvious reasons- because it sounds awesome, but also, I’m excited for this one because I feel like I’ve gotten to know both authors through their frequently updated and hilarious blog. I’m fascinated by the fact that these sisters write collaboratively.

The cover you see up there is the ARC cover. Right now, there’s a pretty cool contest going on over on The Liar Society website where you can vote on two covers for the book. Head over and vote!

Check out this Goodreads summary:

Kate Lowry didn’t think dead best friends could send e-mails. But when she gets an e-mail from Grace, she’s not so sure.

Kate,
I’m here…
sort of.
Find Cameron.
He knows.
I shouldn’t be writing.
Don’t tell.
They’ll hurt you.

Now Kate has no choice but to prove once and for all that Grace’s death was more than just a tragic accident. But secrets haunt the halls of her elite private school. Secrets people will do anything to protect. Even if it means getting rid of the girl trying to solve a murder…

Sounds super intriguing! I love books about private schools, and when you add a little mystery? Well, I can’t resist.

I just learned yesterday (a day after I originally drafted this post…weird) that I am going to be part of The Liar Society Blog Tour! I’m super excited…stay tuned for my review and tour post later this winter!

What are you anxiously waiting for this Wednesday?

      1. @Jessica Lawlor, I love that series! Though, I haven’t read it in the longest of times. I really need to start reading them again… Have you read Jessica Warman’s Where the Truth Lies? It takes place at a private boarding school and it’s really, really good.

  1. Thanks for the post, Jessica! We can’t wait for you guys to read The Liar Society! And for those of you who like books about private schools, I think you’ll really enjoy reading about Pemberly Brown. There’s a lot of secrets and history about the school itself that play into the story. So much fun to write about!

  2. I’m waiting for this one too. I love their blog – I think they should write a comedy. This is purely selfish on my part, because I want *more* YA comedy on the shelves. But they are funny!

Which cover do you like best? I liked the girl with the pearls.

Great pick. This one looks like fun.

    1. @Bri, Bri – There’s definitely some comedy in The Liar Society. We can’t seem to write without it! We’ve tried and it comes out all awkward and forced.

And we should have updated covers up soon! Our publisher has taken into account all the votes and your feedback and they’ve got some new ideas!

    2. @Bri, I agree…they totally should write a comedy. More YA comedy would be nice. Did you read A MATCH MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL by Kristin Walker? I thought it was a really funny YA book.

  3. I can’t wait for LiLa’s book to come out either…I’ve been on a bit of a blog holiday…I didn’t know about the cover contest. Thanks for the heads up.

    Have a wonderful 2011, Jessica!
