How To Choose?!

I am leaving for vacation today For graduation, my mom is taking me a on a cruise! I can’t wait because I definitely need a few days to just relax, but more importantly, I will have tons of time to read!

I get some of my best reading done during vacations (especially since I will have no Internet!). Laying by the pool or on the beach; lazily reading in my bed on the boat. I can’t wait.

However, as I was packing, I ran into a VERY big issue. I obviously can’t bring all the books I want to bring on my trip, as much as I’d like to bring a whole suitcase of books. Last night, I sat on my bedroom floor with a pile of 20 books and painfully decided to limit myself to seven books.

Here’s what made the cut:

Princess On The Brink by Meg Cabot
Princess Mia by Meg Cabot
STori Telling by Tori Spelling
The Year My Sister Got Lucky by Aimee Friedman
The Naughty List by Suzanne Young
Conversations With The Fat Girl by Liza Palmer
Faking 19 by Alyson Noel
Mr. Maybe by Jane Green

Yikes! This was seriously so tough. I tried to bring a variety of different books; I have two from a series. One memoir. A few young adult books and two chick lit novels. Excellent variety, right?

How do you choose which books to bring on vacation?

I love Jane Green! I think you will too, Mr. Maybe was really good. It's been awhile since I read it, but I remember liking it!
    Have a great trip!

  2. I had the same issue right before I went to Zante. I read huge amounts on holiday so if the person I'm going with has the same taste in books, I tell them they can share mine, as long as they take two of my books. Then I take seven myself, putting the two biggest in my hand luggage. Cuts down on the weight.

Then in terms of actually CHOOSING books, I try to take a mix of straight-up chick-lit with a few "for the beach" bonkbuster types (Jackie Collins or Louise Bagshawe, those type of books). I also try to choose smaller books, for example books from the Little Black Dress imprint, as they weigh less.

Wow, that was a comprehensive answer – apologies! It is a total strategy for me though, and I start thinking about it long before I even start packing!!!

Enjoy your holiday AND your books! 🙂

Such a good point! This is actually something I've struggled with for traveling in general. When I go home to visit my parents, I hate bringing a stack of books but I want to read also.

Sometimes I think about buying a Kindle for this exact reason. I'm not sure yet if it's worth the investment… I still love having the pages to fold and the smell of a new book 🙂 but a Kindle would definitely solve this problem!
