Making Time To Read

In a busy schedule like mine, I don’t often have a lot of downtime to read.

However, I make time for it.

I find that reading honestly takes me away to another place and helps me to relax and de-stress.

When I’m really busy with school and work, I usually read before bed to wind down after a long day. I also read on my train ride to school and home from school. I allow those small windows of time to be my few minutes of the day that I can devote to getting lost in the world of someone else’s life.

I think it’s really important to keep reading even when I’m busy, and I’m going to make a real effort this semester to keep doing what I love (reading and writing!) despite a busy schedule.

When is your favorite time to read? When you are busy, do you allow yourself to read or do you wait until you are less busy?

  1. I find it hard to find time too, but I agree, I think it's important. Nothing helps me unwind better than a good book. Bonus points if it's a good book AND a glass of wine!
The best time for me to read is at night. I usually cannot fall asleep unless I read at least a little bed before turning out the light!

  2. I always always read before I turn out the lights at night. It's the perfect way to wind down after long, stressful days.

  3. Ugh, that's my problem, being too busy to read. It's probably more that I don't make time for reading. But if I find a book that really grabs my attention I'm better at. Emily Griffin books are good for that. Hope to find some good ones from your blog too!

I ALWAYS let reading fall by the wayside when classes start up again but this year I really want to keep it up! I find it helps to keep a book on my nightstand and read a little bit before bed each night. Also during public commuting it's always nice to have a book handy!

  5. I'm veeeeery busy too and sometimes I struggle to find the time to read too … But reading is my passion so I try to read at least a chapter or so every day and then catch up when I have more time when I read obsessively, hehe.

  6. I have to say that a lot of my book reading time has been replaced with blog reading time. I do in general, wind up reading on my lunch break at work. Other than that unless its a book that I really can't stop reading it takes me a while to get through anything

  7. I LOVE reading on the train too! I make the train rides hw and stress free too 🙂

    Love your blog Jess!

  8. I always read in between classes. It takes my mind off of the coming class and lets me escape for a little while.
