start your week right- Jessica Lawlor
Photo of the week: Meet the newest addition to the Lawlor family! His name is Axel. We adopted him last week and he’s the sweetest, most playful thing.

Start your week right! Every Sunday I post my favorite links from around the web and share my goals for the upcoming week.

Links

On Time:

How To Keep The Time-Wasters From Taking Over Your Life: I’ve struggled a lot lately with saying no to sometimes unnecessary requests for my time…my friend Betsy sent me this post by Rachel Sklar with a 10-step process for protecting your time. I love this quote: “In the age of the Insta-Ask, all your time can and will be taken up by other people if you let it.”

On Guest Blogging:

9 Tips To Perfectly Pitch Your Guest Post: If there’s anyone out there who knows a thing (or 100) about pitching guest posts, it’s a blog’s managing editor…namely, in this case, it’s the brilliant Jess Ostroff. Read up on her top tips for landing a guest post on major blogs with this useful piece for the Convince and Convert blog.

On Social Media:

Did It Happen If It Wasn’t Instagrammed?: Christine Amorose from C’est Christine is quickly becoming one of my favorite bloggers and I especially loved this post. This quote is everything: “I want to know that not only does something happen if it’s not Instagrammed, but maybe it’s worth even more when all I have to enjoy it is a mental image that’s taken with my own eyes and ears and fingers instead of my iPhone.”

On Entrepreneurship:

Email Etiquette for Entrepreneurs: This post by Belle Beth Cooper is all about email etiquette for entrepreneurs, but really, these email rules can apply to ANYONE. Since we all spend so much time inside our inboxes these days, these tips are absolutely worth a read.

On Life:

Notes To My Younger Self On The Eve Of Turning 30: There are some super smart life lessons in this post by Kate from Hey Escapist on the eve of a big birthday. I especially love #1: don’t be ashamed of what you like.

This Week on JessicaLawlor.com:

Staying True To Who You Are: Staying true to who you are isn’t always easy, but it is always worth it. How are you staying true to yourself, your brand, your voice and your dreams?

Monthly Check-In: Goodbye July, Hello August: Each monthly check-in, I share three things I accomplished in the previous month and preview three things I’m excited for in the month ahead.

Goals

  • Complete my 100th hot yoga class! I am so excited to reach this milestone in my practice and can’t wait to tackle 100 more.
  • Find a dress for the Philadelphia Geek Awards next weekend! I attended this awesome event last year and am so pumped to indulge in all the geeky goodness and see who takes home the awards this year.
  • Spend some time working on guest posts and pitches. I have a big guest post being published later this week on one of my favorite PR blogs (Spin Sucks) and I have a few other pitches in mind that I need to send off.
