Start Your Week Right Sunday: Links and Goals

Start your week right! Every Sunday I post my favorite links from around the web and share my goals for the upcoming week.

Links

On Content Creation:

2013: The Year of the Online Writer: Fantastic news for us bloggers and content creators! CopyBlogger’s Brian Clark has declared 2013 the year of the online writer.

On New Year’s Resolutions:

A 6 Step Guide On How to Nail Those Resolutions: I know a lot of posts are floating around the blogosphere this week about how to accomplish your goals for the new year, but this post by Amanda Abella of Grad Meets World really resonated with me. Amanda breaks the process down into 6 easy steps.

On Blogging:

9 Everyday Tools to Increase Earned Media: This guest post by Aaron Lee, which appeared on Kikolani, breaks down the difference between owned, paid and earned media and then goes on to explore ways you can increase your earned media. Good stuff.

On SEO:

Five Reasons to Add a Content Budget to Your SEO Campaign: SEO is something I want to learn more about this year, so this post popped into my Google Reader at the perfect time. George Zlatin outlines why content and SEO are more important than ever in this Spin Sucks guest post.

On Life:

The 213 in 2013 Project: My friend and fellow PR professional Niki Ianni is embarking on a fabulous journey for 2013. She’s created a list of 213 things she wants to do this year (and she’s already accomplished a few of them in less than a week!) Inspiring.

Goals

  • Enjoy a very special dad/daughter date downtown to see Les Miserables at the Academy of Music. I mentioned in a post earlier this week that one of my major focuses for 2013 is the word “balance.” Planning fun days out like this one with my family is something very important to me that I think will contribute to maintaining that balance in my life between working hard and also enjoying life to the fullest.
  •  Schedule my workouts into my calendar for the week. When I’m training for a race, each Sunday I plot out my workouts for the week and enter them into my calendar. This ensures that I usually stick to the plan. However, now that I’m not training for anything in specific, it’s becoming easier to make excuses for not going to the gym. This week, I want to plan out my workouts ahead of time and stick to them.
  • Write my next Muck Rack freelance post and submit a few ideas for my next couple of Brazen Careerist posts.
