In My Mailbox (45)

In My Mailbox, started by Kristi from The Story Siren is an awesome weekly meme to post what books we’ve received this week; whether it was sent for review from a publisher, purchased at a book store, borrowed from the library, or won from a giveaway.

Just one book this week, which is totally okay since I have a large pile of library books to make my way through, in addition to all the great books I’ve received the past few weeks. I wish I could take a week’s vacation for a personal readathon!

From NetGalley:

Radiate by Marley Gibson: This book is about a high school senior who finally makes the cheerleading squad and then learns she has cancer. I’ve seen a lot of cancer-related books coming out in 2012 and I’m really happy about it because cancer is something that affects so many families, yet I definitely haven’t seen it reflected in YA. I’m so looking forward to this book!

  1. I wish we could all take a week off for a personal readathon. I fail at read-a-thon because mom always intereferes with my life and reading time. Sometimes its okay if we get one book. Old follower. Come visit me over at Livre De Amour-Books of Love Blog.

  2. I’m really trying to get less NetGalley books at the moment, because I still have sooo many to read. But this sounds like a really interesting book, so I hope it’ll still be available once I’ve reduced my reading pile. 😀

Enjoy it and have a lovely week,

    P.s.: A very pretty blog! I’m a new follower. 🙂

  3. This book sounds like one I’d love to check out. I agree with you, cancer isn’t a big topic in YA, but definitely affects everyone. Hope this book gets a lot of publicity!

  4. I’ve heard of this one and think it sounds wonderful. I love that the MC is the one with cancer, since that’s not a prospective you hear much about in YA. You must let me know how it is!

  5. Thanks so much for all the comments about my book, RADIATE! This book is special to me because it’s a fictionalized version of the cancer that I went through as a teenage cheerleader. Can’t wait to read all of your reviews. Check out the book trailer, too at http://www.radiatebooks.com.

    Thanks again!
