In My Mailbox (42)

In My Mailbox, started by Kristi from The Story Siren is an awesome weekly meme to post what books we’ve received this week; whether it was sent for review from a publisher, purchased at a book store, borrowed from the library, or won from a giveaway.

It’s vlog time again! I haven’t done an In My Mailbox video blog since about March, mainly because I didn’t have my own way to film it, but now thanks to my new toy (see below!!!) I can do vlogs anytime I want. Onto the fabulous books!

Sent from Anna:

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

From the library:

Flawless by Lara Chapman

Something Blue by Emily Giffin

Purchased:

Vengeance by Kate Brian

Yes! I purchased a Macbook Pro! And yes, I’m that weird girl in the parking lot of the mall taking a picture with my new laptop. Some guy definitely saw me and screamed, “Are you going to put that on Facebook right now?” Why yes, yes I am, sir! Anyway, I took a nice little field trip to Delaware (no sales tax!) to visit my sister and make my purchase. I’ve had the computer for a week, and we are madly in love. I’m officially a Mac person now!

What’s in your mailbox today?

  1. Hmmm… Mac tips… Let’s see…

The control button is the PC’s right click. When in down, I hold control and tap the space bar. Works every time.
    control + shift + 3 is a screen shot
control + shift + 4 let’s you determine what on the screen you want a shot of (I use this one all. the. time.)
Safari stinks. If you haven’t already, download Firefox.
The Dashboard is one of my favorite features of a Mac. I love downloading new widgets. The post-it widget gets used be me all.the.time.
If you haven’t yet, get iMovie so you can edit your vlogs! It’s surprisingly really easy to use!
Never, ever, ever, ever, I repeat EVER leave your drink on the left side of the keyboard. Remember when I ruined my first Mac and was computerless for a year? Yep, a little bit of water spilled on the top lefthand corner of the keyboard will short some piece out (I can’t remember the name of it) and will ruin the entire computer – except for the hard drive.

I think that’s all I’ve got. I hope you love it!!!!!!

PS: I’m STILL waiting for Vengeance from the library!

    1. @Amber @ A Little Pink in the Cornfields, I completely forgot about your computer troubles! Yikes. I currently have my iced latte on the right side of my computer 🙂

Good call on downloading Firefox. I’ve actually been using Safari and it’s fine, but mainly just because I forgot to download something else!

Thanks for the tips…oh and by the way, Vengeance is good, but not THAT good. 🙁

  2. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight sounds like a really cute book! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! Excited to read what you think 🙂 Business cards are awesome! I did mine at Moo and they’re not terribly expensive. Happy reading!

  3. I saw that the private series has a prequel book. Actually I went and go that not realizing it was a prequel until I read the fine print.

    Have a good weekend.

  4. yay!! welcome to the “bright side” :)–i’m a mac person all the way!!

i’m dying to read statistical probability. can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. awesome mailbox. 🙂

  5. Very jealous of The Statistical Probability! It’s topping my list of most desired. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great week. 🙂

  6. YAY for your books, but more importantly YAAAY for your MacBook Pro. My dad bought me one for Christmas a couple years ago, and I LOVE it! Addicting, isn’t it? lol. 😀

P.S. I didn’t know there wasn’t any sales tax in Delaware. Interesting.

    1. @Lena, Yep! I’m pretty sure I saved about $200 buying it in DE! Totally worth the drive especially since I got to visit my little sis 🙂

  7. Bhahahaha I LOVE that you took a pic with your new Macbook Pro– I still have my 6 year old Dell Laptop, which glitches out on me all the time and doesn’t have a webcam so I can’t so IMM vlogs yet— but guess what my next major purchase is going to be??!! I am switching to “the dark/bright side” too lol 😉

I really want to read The Statistical Probability… as well, it sounds super-cute. Flawless is another one with a plot that just sounds so interesting, can’t wait to get my hands on that one as well! Hope you enjoy everything you got this week, and good luck with that Macbook! I will be totally clueless when I get mine too, since I haven’t used a MAc since… oh, the 5th grade? Haha!

You can see my IMM here 🙂 Happy Reading!

Lea @ LC’s Adventures in Libraryland

    1. @Lea, I absolutely loved my Dell (still do, actually). It is 4 years old…and it definitely was slowing down, but still has some life left in it. I’m giving it to my dad to use until it kicks the bucket. It’s pink and pretty 🙂 Can’t wait to see him using it! Haha. Hope you get a Mac soon! 6 years is a really long time for a Dell!

  8. No matter what anyone says, getting a new computer is EXCITING! Have fun with the Mac. We are a “blended” family — my husband and daughter have Macs, and my son and I are PCs. But we’re still a happy family!

    1. @Annette, Haha, so glad that you’re family is still able to get along despite your different computer tastes 😉 We are a divided family now too. My sister and I with our Macs and my brother and parents with their PC’s!

  9. All your books sound interesting and I am totally with you on the Mac stuff. I am a PC Tech and at home I have a Mac! It’s just so much better LOL. New follower BTW.

    Happy Reading!

    My IMM

  10. Yay for Flawless! I loved that one so much even though it’s not the most original book out there. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight looks amazing as well and congrats on your new Macbook Pro. Happy reading! 🙂

    1. @Paige, Haha, my brother got his new iPod Touch for Christmas and my first thought was, “YES! Now he can film my IMM vlogs.” He was all gung-ho about it until I wanted to do like 7 takes each time 🙂

By the way, you gotta get on reading Kate Brian! You will be so hooked!

  11. It is so not weird to take a photo of yourself with your new laptop. It’s all shiny and pretty and stuff. I have to send off my little white MacBook for some warranty work tomorrow and I’m very sad it will be away from me for awhile. I frickin love the title “The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight” – one of the best book titles ever. Happy reading and happy computing!

Megan @ Read It, See It

    1. @Megan Swicegood, Haha, thank you for the validation 🙂

So sad that you have to say goodbye to your Mac for the time being. My sister has the pretty white one too.

And I totally agree on the amazing title! Can’t wait to read it.

  12. your sis is right – the bright side is totally the right term for making the switch from PC to Mac. I’m loving the comments because I’m learning stuff as well even though I’ve had my macbook for a year!

  13. Hooray — so glad the book is in your hands…I think you’re going to LOOOOOVE it. My review is going up tomorrow and it was a total gushfest. Enjoy 🙂

  14. Congrats on your awesome reads, and welcome to the Mac World! I’ve had my MacBook Pro since May (happy mother’s day to me!) and I haven’t once regretted it. I was very much anti-Mac, but as soon as I got used to it, I realized just how much more SENSE a Mac makes, you know? 🙂 Enjoy!

  15. I cannot WAIT to read Statistical Probability… I’ll hijack it from Anna one of these days 🙂 I hope you’re enjoying your new Mac – I love mine!

  16. Congrats on your new Mac!! Enjoy your new life together! <3 Oh, I love the cover for THE STATISTICAL PROBABILITY OF LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT and am excited to read it when it comes out! I've been thinking about business cards too, but I have to get my blog template set first! 🙂

  17. I bought Vegeance yesterday nad I can’t wait to read it! YAY for new computer, I need to start shopping around for a new computer soon.

  18. Congrats on the new MacBook!!! How exciting! I’ve missed your vlogs! Can’t wait to see more!

I absolutely loved Something Borrowed/Something Blue… Everything Emily Giffin writes is amazing to me! Have you seen the movie yet? I kinda wanted to re-read the books before I watched the movie.

Statistical Probability looks so adorable! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!

    1. @Tara T., I have seen the movie! I haven’t read the books in years so I thought the movie was good, but I’m sure if I re-read the book, I’d love it more 🙂
