Waiting On Wednesday

Today, I’m participating in Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. This event highlights the upcoming releases that we are eagerly awaiting!

Today, I am waiting for…

Want To Go Private? by Sarah Daerr Littman (August 1, 2011 by Scholastic Press)

Check out this Goodreads summary:

Abby and Luke chat online. They’ve never met. But they are going to. Soon.

Abby is starting high school””it should be exciting, so why doesn’t she care? Everyone tells her to “make an effort,” but why can’t she just be herself? Abby quickly feels like she’s losing a grip on her once-happy life. The only thing she cares about anymore is talking to Luke, a guy she met online, who understands. It feels dangerous and yet good to chat with Luke””he is her secret, and she’s his. Then Luke asks her to meet him, and she does. But Luke isn’t who he says he is. When Abby goes missing, everyone is left to put together the pieces. If they don’t, they’ll never see Abby again.

Oh my goodness- this sounds like a serious mystery. This book intrigues me because I often think of how nothing is really private anymore, especially with tools like Twitter and Foursquare. I think this book will shed an interesting light on the dangerous side of the Internet. I get chills just reading that description.

*In case you missed it, I’m giving away a copy of HOURGLASS by Myra McEntire to one lucky reader! The contest ends on Thursday night at 10 p.m.!

What are you anxiously waiting for this Wednesday?

  1. I’m eagerly awaiting this one too! I read a memoir years ago (I so wish I could remember what it was called!!!) with a similar story, so it’ll be interesting to see a fictional take.

  2. I very nearly chose this as my WoW as well!
I cannot wait for this one either – I read a review that couldn’t praise it enough and I’ve not heard of another YA book that deals with a similar topic, strangely. It looks like going to be a sad read though!
