In My Mailbox and Great Flea Market Finds

This is hard to believe since I’ve been book blogging for more than a year, but this is the first week that I’ll be joining in Kristi’s awesome weekly meme, In My Mailbox. The idea of this meme is to post what books we’ve received this week; whether it was sent for review by a publisher, purchased at a book store, borrowed from the library, or in my case, found at an amazing flea market!

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you may know that I’m a huge fan of book sales. I love perusing the aisles and aisles of books, looking for a treasure. Yesterday, my mom participated in a pretty big flea market near our house and as I walked around, I found this one woman who was selling boxes and boxes of books.

Of course, I stopped and browsed for a good half hour. I came out with four awesome books:

(sorry for the less than stellar Blackberry photos)

Hope in a Jar by Beth Harbison: I’ve read another book by Harbison and I enjoyed it. I really like the cover and title of this book which intrigued me to pick it up.

Citizen Girl by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus: I liked The Nanny Diaries by these two authors and I’ve heard great things about this one.

Lovehampton by Sherri Rifkin: This sounds like a great summer read; I usually love stories about the Hamptons and this seems like it will be no exception.

Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner: I’m a huge Weiner fan (who isn’t, really?!) and this was the one book of hers that I didn’t own. Now my collection is complete!

What’s in your mailbox today?

  1. Gha! I LOVE flea markets! I know I’m not supposed to, because I really don’t need any more stuff, but just looking through used things…there’s just something I like about it. And used books? I love used books. I can spend hours browsing.

  2. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I actually never noticed that you didn’t participate in IMM! But yay for doing so because it’s really fun! I didn’t get anything this week but it doesn’t matter xD

Those books look like fun reads–I’ve never had any luck at flea markets but whenever I go to NYC, I always head to Strand. I think you’d like it there-the books may be used but they look brand-new and their prices are awesome 🙂

    1. I know- so weird! For some reason, I always thought the M in IMM meant Monday, and I always do It’s Monday, What are you Reading? so I never joined in. SILLY ME! I’m in now though 🙂

I’ve never been to the Strand but I’ve heard wonderful things about it!

  3. I love finding books at thrift stores and flea markets – they are usually in really good condition too! You have some great reads here – I want to read Certain Girls soon. I loved Good in Bed. And if you haven’t read it yet, check out Dedication by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus.
It’s good to see you here on IMM, I am a new follower!

    1. Thanks for the follow- just followed you back! 🙂

Certain Girls is GREAT. Unfortunately, I read it before Good in Bed by accident, but I loved them both.

Thanks for the recommendation for Dedication. I should check it out 🙂

  4. I love book sales too! I mean, what’s not to love about getting great books for cheap prices?! Anyhow, great books this week! Citizen Girl and Lovehampton both sound great. Happy reading. 🙂

    1. I know! It’s so much fun sifting through the shelves and then only paying 25 cents for an amazing book!

  5. OMG I LOVE LOVE browsing for used books. I am obsessed! I go to a lot of library sales and I’ve gotten a billion books. I use BookSaleFinder.com … Just click on your state and there’s a whole list of book sales in your area! There’s usually at least one a week aroudn me, if not more!

    1. Thanks so much for the booksale website tip! I love them SO much. There are two around here that I go to regularly and always find such great stuff.

  6. I’ve heard a lot of great things about Jessica Weiner! I really need to check her out! You’ve got a great mailbox – I hope you enjoy all of your new reads!

Thank you so much for stopping by my site! =)
