Welcome to the New and Improved Cover to Cover

I am so excited to welcome you all to the new and improved Cover to Cover!

*Note: There has been some RSS feed confusion. If you were previously subscribed to my Blogger blog through a reader, please come out and re-subscribe to make sure you’re seeing the latest posts.*

The Reason Behind My Move

I mentioned a few weeks back that I was looking to move my Blogger blog over here to my domain. I previously used this domain when I was job searching last spring to house my resume, writing samples and recommendations. Since I’m now happily employed, I wanted to make my book review and writing blog even better and more professional by moving it over here to my very own dot com. I wanted ‘Jessica Lawlor’ to be one brand and one website with all of my passions under one roof. After all, I have many interests: writing, reading, PR, blogging, social media. What better way to brand myself than to embrace them all in one location?

Plus, this new site is even easier to use! You can find any author or subject I’ve blogged about over to the right with my handy categories tool.  If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, just use the search button, also over on the right.

What You Can Expect From Cover to Cover

If you’re already an avid reader of Cover to Cover, you can expect the same great book reviews, author interviews, book chat and giveaways. But now, you can also expect even more about my journey to writing my first novel, as well as information about the ever-changing publishing industry.

You can expect way more engagement on this new site because I’ll be able to reply to comments and we’ll be able to start a conversation in the comment section of each post.

I’ve also included information about how I can help authors with publicity for their books, on a freelance basis. I’ll be posting details of how authors can utilize social media and the blogging community to create an even larger fan base and sell more books.

My review policy and all of the book reviews I’ve done in the past year are all now easier to find right on the top toolbar.

Subscribe

If you’re new to Cover to Cover, please subscribe by clicking here. In a few days, my old blog will automatically redirect readers to this new website, but in the meantime, I’d really appreciate it if you updated your Google Readers or whatever tool you use to read blogs to this feed.

The Giveaway

What better way to get the word out about my new site than to have a giveaway? I announced a giveaway back when I was trying to figure out a new tagline for this site, but since I really ended up switching my idea completely, those who entered that contest will get five extra entries for this giveaway.

The prize? A $25 Amazon gift card.

How to enter:

-Leave a comment with your e-mail address and a suggestion or idea for a blog post you’d like to see here on Cover to Cover.

Extra entries:

-Post about my new blog and this giveaway on Twitter (provide the link in your comment or include my Twitter handle in your tweet: @jesslaw)
-Post about this giveaway on your blog (provide the link in your comment)
-Subscribe and let me know in the comments
-Become a friend through Google Friend Connect (see the right hand side of this site) and let me know in the comments.

Take some time to click around and let me know what you think! And once again, welcome!

    1. Yes! I absolutely will be giving more details. Stay tuned!

I’m so glad to hear you’ve been reading! Be sure to enter the giveaway 🙂

  1. The new site looks great! You showed up in my reader this morning since I was already subscribed, but I friended you again for good measure. 🙂 I think writers always like to see other writers’ revision processes, so I would suggest doing a post about that.

Also, I mentioned your contest in my blog sidebar! http://seeheatherwrite.blogspot.com

  2. I love the new layout and design, it looks great!

I would really like to see a post about PR and blogging, what information you should put out there opinions vs. facts and your take on any PR stories in the media. Plus I’m a sucker for any social media topic!

  3. Woohoo! Congrats again on your new blog!

I haven’t been reading your blog regularly (but just added you to my Google Reader so I will be!), so I’m not sure if these suggestions will be helpful, but…how about researching and sharing great current PR around book releases? Or maybe your thoughts about book v. movie.

Looking forward to reading your blog!

  4. jessica the new site looks great! congrats and nicely done rachael! 🙂

and as for a suggestion i can’t remember if you’ve done it or not but how about a post comparing a book to its movie counterpart? (yes of course i would think of something movie related, haha)

  5. I think it’s great! I love the look and feel of the site, and I think it’s a great idea for you to have all of your online identities in one place!

  6. Hi Jessica! Love the new site. My proposed topic would be how to get started with book reviews and where to get them published. I love to read too, but have a difficult time with reviews. I’ve done research on my own and have found several different formats for them. A step by step post on book reviews would be great! Thanks again for letting me share and congrats on the new site. Looks amazing!

    1. @Heiddi, Ohhhhh! What a wonderful idea. I never even thought about that since writing reviews comes so naturally to me. Am adding that to my list right now 🙂 Thanks!

      1. @Jessica Lawlor, Glad you like it. Can’t wait to read about your method of writing madness. lol Wouldn’t mind branching out to book reviews. I’ve been reading a ton of books lately. Most recently, The Glass Castle and now a book on greek mythology. My head hurts, but it’s a good kind. lol Take care!

  7. Congrats on the new site, Jessica! It looks fabulous and very clean. I like it! Looking forward to the future of Cover to Cover and JessicaLawlor.com!

  8. I’d love to see more Book Chat posts, especially more about bookish websites!
I friended you with Google Friend Connect 🙂

  9. One of the things i love is about a blog is the weekly contest links from around the internet. Maybe you can rig one up too?

I follow your blog via GFC.

    1. Thanks for the idea! I probably won’t do this one because it seems like many other blogs have this one covered. Have you ever seen Bookworming in the 21st Century’s Thursday posts? She does link a contest and usually over 100 people add their contests. That’s definitely my go-to place for contests!

  10. Glad I found your blog! I’m a new follower and I think your site is great! I found the Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and other ways to find you and everything is really already well organized. I think you are doing a lot better than I am since I’m such a newbie of my own blog site. Keep up and good luck!

  11. I just found your blog, so if you already do this, I apologize – but a review regularly (monthly, weekly, whatever) of the classics – John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway and the like. There are SO many classics, and even reading them leaves a few out, would be lovely to see some reviews of classics – which ones to read and which to just read the abstracts or what not.

Good luck with your new blog! It’s lovely!

    1. Thanks for the idea! I have to admit….I am NOT a fan of the classics. Guilty as charged here. It’s kind of weird considering how much I love reading and all, but oh well! Can’t love them all.

  12. Love your site. So easy on the eyes…nice to read.
I’m a new follower, so I don’t know if you’ve done this idea already:
having a segment reviewing books from other countries, maybe ones that have been translated into English from the original?
    :o)

  13. the layout of your blog is great-really easy to find everything. Really happy I stumbled across your blog.

maybe a blog post about what you expect from YA in the future or trends you want to see in future?

    1. Thanks for the compliment and the great idea! YA is definitely always changing, so I’ll have to think of my opinions on it!

  14. I totally fail at giving advice…

But, I’m interested to see what you’ve got going on here. Good luck with the new site!

  15. Love the new look! I’m new to this blog (and to blogs in general) so it’s really hard to give a suggestion. I guess that being a newbie, the only thing I can think of is maybe to put up a link somewhere or something that explains all this blog stuff like the feeds and what is google reader and such. I’m so lost on all of that!

  16. Interviews! And I don’t mean guest bloggers. I mean interview other writers who are struggling to become published authors. I’m considering doing this myself to help my fellow writers get more online exposure and possibly some new followers.

The site looks lovely, btw. I love the little stars above your picture. So neat and clever.
