Hot Trend: Sisters?

Lately I’ve realized a trend in the kinds of books I’ve been reading. Of course, you all know I love anything YA or women’s fiction, but within those books, I’ve found a different, more specific trend.

Sisters.

I’ve noticed that there are SO many books about the complicated relationships between sisters. The common theme I’ve noticed is that these sisters are usually COMPLETELY different and struggle to find a common ground and bond.

I definitely enjoy reading about these relationships because I have a younger sister and I can relate to a lot of what goes on in these stories.

Here are a few of the books I’ve read and reviewed about sisters. Check them out!

In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner

Peace Love & Baby Ducks by Lauren Myracle

Get Lucky by Katherine Center

The Opposite Of Me by Sarah Pekkanen

Have you noticed this sisterly trend? What’s your favorite book about sisters?

  1. Books on sisters are usually my favorites! Like you, my younger sister and I are close… but have a complicated bond, like all families.

I just finished a book called Dangerous Neighbors by Beth Kephart last night, and it's a pretty accurate look at the way sisters often feel "left behind" when one falls in love and begins to move on… they're twins, too, so that added a new element! A good read.

Other favorite books about sisters include Get Lucky, which you mentioned, and Garden Spells, Just Listen, Dream When You're Feeling Blue and The Lies We Told!

  2. I've noticed several books lately that are sister-tastic. I just finished one the other day and loved it: The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May & June by Robin Benway.

It was one that made me wish I had a sister :). I like this trend.

  3. I really like a good sister story, but it's been so long since I've read one! I love Marian Keyes' Walsh sisters books. While the books don't focus on sisterly bonds, I love how they still play an important role in each of the sisters' lives.
