Book Review: The Virginity Club by Kate Brian

The Virginity Club
Author: Kate Brian
ISBN: 1416903461

The Virginity Club by Kate Brian tells the story of four best friends competing for the same college scholarship.

Mandy, Kai, Debbie and Eva all learn about the Victoria A. Treemont Scholarship and all decide to apply. The scholarship is huge and getting accepted into their college of choice is their main goal for the year. However, the scholarship has one important requirement: “he or she must exemplify purity of soul and body.”

No one is exactly sure what “purity and soul” actually means, but most students assume that it means you have to be a virgin.

The four best friends are all of a sudden competing against each other. It’s every girl for herself.

Mandy decides to start a new club called the Virginity Club to show that she completely exemplifies body and soul. Her friends happily join the club and Mandy is thrilled until her best friend Kai decides to run against her for president of the club.

Eva has a serious crush on the new boy in school, Riley and is devastated when her best friend Debbie begins flirting with him and turning on her charm.

Debbie is worried about her chances at winning the scholarship because even though she is a virgin, she has a reputation of being promiscuous

I enjoyed this book, but it wasn’t what I’m used to from Kate Brian. I’m used to reading about the rich and privileged and the scandals that go down because of them.

However, that being said, I definitely liked this book. I enjoyed getting to know the four main characters and I even found myself siding with two of them. I liked hearing their stories, learning about their quirks and finding out their secrets.

This book only took me a day and a half to read, so it’s a very quick and easy read.

3.5/5
