I came across this great article by Joelle Anthony about the 25 most overused things in middle grade and young adult books.

This list seriously made me laugh because some of them are so true! Anthony makes sure to say that sometimes using these situations or characters is perfectly fine, but it’s just funny that so many MG and YA novels use these devices.

I definitely recognized more than a few from books I’ve read and even from my own writing.
