Waiting On Wednesday

Today, I’m participating in Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. This event highlights the upcoming releases that we are eagerly awaiting!

Today, I am waiting for…

Bumped by Megan McCafferty (April 26, 2011 by Balzer + Bray)

I am a HUGE Megan McCafferty fan, so I will basically read any book this incredible author publishes… I devoured the Jessica Darling series and am so happy that McCafferty is releasing her first YA novel. Plus, I got to meet her last spring at an event at my alma mater, Temple University, and she spoke a little bit about this book, so now I’m extra excited.

Check out this Goodreads summary:

When a virus makes everyone over the age of eighteen infertile, would-be parents are forced to pay teen girls to conceive and give birth to their children, making teens the most prized members of society.

Sixteen-year-old identical twins Melody and Harmony were separated at birth and had never met until the day Harmony shows up on Melody’s doorstep. Until now, the twins have followed completely opposite paths. Melody has scored an enviable conception contract with a couple called the Jaydens. While they are searching for the perfect partner for Melody to bump with, she is fighting her attraction to her best friend Zen, who is way too short for the job.

Harmony has spent her whole life in religious Goodside, preparing to be a wife and mother. She believes her calling is to bring Melody back to Goodside and convince her that “pregging” for profit is a sin. But Harmony has secrets of her own that she is running from.

When Melody is finally matched with the world-famous, genetically flawless Jondoe, both girls’ lives are changed forever. A case of mistaken identity takes them on a journey neither could have ever imagined, one that makes Melody and Harmony realize they have so much more than just DNA in common

How intrigued are you by that summary? I’ve been on a dystopian kick lately, and it seems like there will be a ton of room for McCafferty to really delve into details of the world these twins live in. World building is one of my favorite aspects of dystopian novels.

What are you anxiously waiting for this Wednesday?

    1. @Jessica Love, OMG! Thanks so much for telling me. I haven’t checked out NG in a week or so and just saw BUMPED and THE LAST LITTLE BLUE ENVELOPE. SOOOO exciting. Thanks Jessica!

  1. Sounds interesting . . . kind of like a YA twist on The Handmaid’s Tale, but with a bit of a different hook. Could definitely be worth a read.

    I have 3 picks in my WOW this week . . . just because I’m greedy. 🙂

  2. You’re right – this one sounds fabulous! I’m loving the dystopian renaissance in the YA genre. Great pick!

If you’d like, you can check out my WoW post here.

  3. I’m really looking forward to this one too because I loved Megan’s Jessica Darling series so I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us with this one.
