Over the past year that I’ve had this blog, I’ve found so many new great blogs to read. It started out with me finding wonderful book blogs filled with book reviews, author interviews, giveaways and more. Then, I found myself clicking around great blogs about the writing process and the publishing industry. These blogs have inspire me to keep my dream of writing and being published in focus.
Each weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday, I’m going to highlight two of these blogs! Please feel free to share suggestions with me of other great publishing and writing focused blogs to highlight.
First up today is Diary of a Virgin Novelist
Rebecca Hargreaves is a consultant and writer, currently working on a novel. Her blog chronicles her ups and downs writing her first novel (much like my blog, if I ever decide to stop reading a million books a week and start actually writing).
I absolutely love Rebecca’s blog because it’s so honest. If she’s having a bad day writing, she’ll be the first one to announce it on her blog. No shame. I love that about her. I’m also very open when I’m struggling. We also get to share in Rebecca’s writing successes as she takes us through her entire writing process.
Thanks to P for suggesting this blog to me in a Fabulous Publishing and Writing Blogs a few weeks ago!
Next up today is The Parking Lot Confessional
The Parking Lot Confessional is written by a group of writers and follows their journeys to getting published. The blog of course, features different tips about writing and the writing process, but also includes different prompts that readers are encouraged to try. Very cool! I’ve found this site very useful, my ONLY complaint is that they only use a partial feed in Google Reader which is where I do most of my blog reading. I hate hate hate having to click out of Google Reader unless I’m planning on leaving a comment.
I found this blog through one of the writers of The Parking Lot Confessional, Amy Nichols, who left a comment on last week’s Fabulous Publishing and Writing Blogs. I was excited to see her comment because that’s what this feature is all about; finding and exploring new blogs!
Are you reading any great publishing or writing blogs? Share them in the comments below!
Awwwww. thanks for the shout-out! Very timely as I am feeling a bit down about the writing and blogging today. Thanks!
Not necessarily on topic, but I'm the exact opposite and hate reading in my google reader. I use my reader to see where there are new entries and click through to read them. I know it takes longer, but I think I get a better "feel" for the blog and blogger by reading on their actual page with their whole background. Plus since I'm already there it makes it easier to try to leave comments each time.
I'm going to check out the Parking Lot Confessional. Don't like the idea of the partial google reader subscription but love the idea of writing prompts. I definitely need some more of those to get me writing!
