Book Review: The Treasure Map of Boys by E. Lockhart

The Treasure Map of Boys
Author: E. Lockhart
ISBN: 9780385734264

The Treasure Map of Boys continues the saga of Ruby Oliver and her journey in the state of “noboyfriend.” In the previous books The Boyfriend List and The Boy Book, Ruby has just started therapy because of her panic attacks and is learning to live life with just a few friends after losing all of her friends sophomore year.

In The Treasure Map of Boys, Ruby finds herself falling for Noel, but knows she shouldn’t because one of her only friends Nora likes him. She struggles with old feelings for her ex boyfriend Jackson and becomes even more confused when boys like Finn and Gideon begin to flirt with her. In summary, Ruby is completely confused and feels like her life is being ruled by these different boys.

Again, Lockhart provides an excellent commentary on high school life and drama. The situations that happen in the book are so realistic and true of high school.

Ruby is such a complex and intriguing character. I fall in love with her more and more with each new book in the series. I can completely relate to her and her troubles and I love reading about the way she handles herself and the situations she gets herself into.

The male characters in Lockhart’s books are also wonderful. I am completely in love with Noel and I completely hate Jackson. Lockhart truly creates characters that seem real; that people can relate to and love/hate.

I am thrilled that Lockhart is writing another Ruby Oliver book and I can’t wait to pick it up…although it won’t be out until next December! How will I wait?

4.5/5

PS- Thanks to Pirate Penguin for recommending this awesome series to me!
