Double Book Review: Legacy and Ambition by Kate Brian

Legacy

Author: Kate Brian

ISBN: 9781416950424

Legacy, the sixth book in the Private series follows Reed Brennan’s life after the death of Cheyenne Martin. The ladies of Billings house elect Reed to be their president and Reed relishes her newfound popularity and power. Being president of Billings means being privy to everyone’s secrets and gossip, having a bank account so large she doesn’t know what do with it and access to all Billings alumni.

When Reed finds out that Easton students haven’t been invited to the notorious Legacy party, she is livid and is determine to find out who is behind snubbing Easton. When Noelle surprisingly returns, she is ready and willing to help Reed…who doesn’t always want her help.

I liked this book, but I’m not sure I like Reed’s newfound confidence and personality change. It just seems a little drastic, especially since the series only takes place over the course of a year. I just cant seem to fully believe that Reed is supposed to have such a drastic personality change in that span of time.

I am excited that Noelle is back…the book is way more exciting with her present.

Ambition

Author: Kate Brian

ISBN: 9781416958826

Sigh…the series I once loved seems to be going downhill at this point in Reed’s time at Easton Academy.

The seventh book Ambition opens after the infamous Legacy ball. The ladies of Billings come home from the ball to find the building they used to sneak off campus earlier that night on fire. Because Reed is Billings president, it’s up to her to save the dorm since the new headmaster of the school wants to close Billings down.

Reed comes up with the idea to hold a gala to raise money for the school in order to get back into the good graces of the headmaster. All of the Billings ladies are behind her.

As Reed plans to the event, she is disturbed by several surprising events regarding the dead Cheyenne. Reed is spooked and wants to know who is out to get her.

I don’t know….I just couldn’t get into this book as much as I was able to get into the others. I miss the days of Ariana, Noelle, Kiran and Taylor. The new “generation” of Billings girls just doesn’t cut it for me.

Don’t get me wrong…I can’t wait to continue the series and find out more, but I do miss the first half of the series.
