The Guy Not Taken
Author: Jennifer Weiner
ISBN: 9780743298056
The Guy Not Taken by Jennifer Weiner is a collection of short stories, some published in magazines and other publications, and some unpublished. The stories are chronological with the youngest protagonist’s story first and the oldest protagonist’s story last. Each of the stories is different, but have some reoccurring themes that are often present in Weiner’s books: swimming and water and divorce and loneliness.
I couldn’t really get into this book. I’ve never really been a short story fan and each time I got to the end of a story I yearned to know more about the characters. I felt unresolved and felt like the stories were incomplete.
This is definitely a quick read as you could read each story in one sitting.

I wasn't even able to finish this book! I think the short stories didn't hold my attention very well. I attempted to read it for about 4 weeks before giving up on it all together!
I wanted to read this but I'm glad I didn't – short stories just don't work for me.
I have had this book on my shelf for a couple of years now. I too couldn't get into it at all! I might pick it up again someday, If I'm desperate. Although, that is not looking too likely!
I agree! I read it a few weeks ago when I was at the shore and I just can't get into these short stories. Which is funny because I love the Girls About Town short story books, I have the American/Irish/British ones.
I do like Jennifer Weiner, but I don't like the idea of reading a bunch of short stories. Maybe if I borrowed a copy from someone I'd read it, but otherwise I'm not sure
