Fabulous Publishing and Writing Blogs

Over the past year that I’ve had this blog, I’ve found so many new great blogs to read. It started out with me finding wonderful book blogs filled with book reviews, author interviews, giveaways and more. Then, I found myself clicking around great blogs about the writing process and the publishing industry. These blogs have inspire me to keep my dream of writing and being published in focus.

Each weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday, I’m going to highlight two of these blogs! Please feel free to share suggestions with me of other great publishing and writing focused blogs to highlight.

This weekend two awesome conferences are happening in the writing and publishing world: Romance Writers of America 2010 and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Summer Conference. I’ve been following tweets from both conferences and found this first blog from the tweets!

First up today is Kathleen Peacock’s blog Tales of a Writing Geek.

Kathleen is a YA author with a book coming out in 2011. I found her blog because she’s been tweeting about the SCBWI conference even though she is right at home! She’s also following along with the tweets. Kathleen’s blog is a mixture of writing and publishing advice, along with other random tidbits about her life. I especially liked her recent post about not being able to attend conferences, but about how writers shouldn’t feel discouraged that they won’t get an agent or a publisher if they too can’t attend. Very refreshing to hear.

Next up today is Rachelle Gardner.

Rachelle Gardner is a literary agent who posts tons and tons of useful information about what an agent wants to see from an author, as well as tips for writing a better book. Rachelle is completely real and honest about the industry. She’s great at introducing a topic, giving her opinion and encouraging discussion in the comments, which I think is great. You can learn a lot from the comments of Rachelle’s blog, as well as the great content Rachelle consistently posts.
