About Me
Hi! I’m Jessica Lawlor, a twenty-something reading fanatic and aspiring author from Philadelphia.
Reading
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved reading. When I was three years old, I received a basket of books for Christmas, and refused to open my other presents until I was finished reading each and every book.
As I’ve grown older, my love of reading has only increased. I particularly enjoy reading young adult, contemporary and women’s literature (okay, okay, call it chick lit.)
When I started blogging about books in August 2009, I was amazed to find that there was a whole community of bookworms just like me. Through my blog, I’ve met other readers, aspiring writers and I’ve been introduced to many books and authors that I previously knew nothing about. Through writing book reviews, I now take a more critical look at the art of writing and take away tips and tricks for my own novel.
Writing
I’ve also always loved to write. In first grade, I scribbled page after page during journal time. In third grade, I wrote silly stories that the teacher laminated and placed on the class bookshelf. I blogged my way through college, writing personal essays and stories. Now, I’m penning my first novel.
Public Relations
After graduating from college in May 2010, I accepted a job working on the PR team of a hospital in Philadelphia. Along with reading and writing, PR is one of my passions. There’s nothing I love more than spreading the word about something I care about believe in. That’s why I also offer freelance PR services for authors and small businesses. Learn more about that here.
