Start Your Week Right Sunday: Links and Goals

start your week right- Jessica Lawlor
Photo of the week: My happiness levels rise exponentially when I am near the water. Spent Easter in Ocean City, NJ with the family.

Start your week right! Every Sunday I post my favorite links from around the web and share my goals for the upcoming week.

On Yoga:

11 Yoga Basics and Etiquette Tips From a Teacher: I loved Jen Decurtins of the Peanut Butter Runner blog before, but now that I’m going through yoga teacher training, I’m really loving her yoga-related posts. This one with 11 etiquette tips from a teacher is pure gold- many students simply don’t know yoga etiquette until someone tells them. Great read.

On Saying No:

Starr Struck Radio: Episode 13: Learning How To Say No: I’m completely obsessed with the podcast Starr Struck Radio and especially appreciated this episode all about saying no. Hosts Mary Catherine and Ben both have different approaches to saying no and it’s interesting to hear them talk through it, plus Mary Catherine shares a script for saying no that I definitely want to implement.

On Blogging:

Should You Create a Series or One Big Post?: I asked Lisa of Elembee a question over Twitter a few weeks ago and she was kind enough to answer it on her blog. I told her I was grappling with writing ONE BIG MASSIVE post about a topic or breaking it down into several smaller posts as a series. Here’s what she had to say.

On Life and Love:

5 Things You Didn’t Know About The Woman You Call ‘Intimidating’: I think I love author of this article, Samantha Lang. This piece about the woman you call “intimidating” speaks to me and my experiences with dating so much it’s a little bit scary. An honest and insightful read about dating and relationships.

On Self-Employment:

Leaping Into Self-Employment: “I once read somewhere that the worst kind of job you can have in your twenties is a comfortable one.” Congratulations to my friend Caroline Winn on leaping into self-employment! This post details her journey to quitting her job to pursue photography full-time.

This Week on JessicaLawlor.com:

Getting Brutally Honest About Burnout: Ever felt completely burnt out? Me too. But it’s not something a lot of us talk about publicly. I’m not afraid to talk about it.

Goals

  • Complete my yoga teacher training homework for weekend 4! I have quite a lot to do this week- two journal entries, a reflection paper, lots of reading and I have to take an alternative style yoga class. I’ll be heading to a Yin yoga class tomorrow night!
  • Keep working on those two freelance articles I mentioned a few weeks ago. I have a couple of phone interviews scheduled for this week and want to get writing soon.
