10 Spectacular Things Happening Right Now (Join The Movement!)

10 spectacular things- Jessica LawlorI’m not one to turn down a challenge so when the ever-wonderful Coach Jennie challenged her community to join together to share and celebrate the spectacular things happening in their lives, I knew I wanted to jump in.

Call it a #humblebrag, or simply call it being grateful, here are 10 spectacular things happening in my life right now:

1. Get Gutsy is growing! I’m amazed at how quickly the Get Gutsy community here is growing. It all began with the Get Gutsy ebook launch in October (get your free copy here!), followed by the soft launch of the first-ever 30 Days of Gutsy Course (which officially kicks off with a small group of beta testers next week!) and the launch of my new interview series (the first one is with my inspiring yoga teacher). I’m so grateful for the community here and am looking forward to growing and serving even more people to help them step outside their comfort zones.

2. My freelance writing is really picking up. I’ve been writing for a number of clients for the past few years, but in the past month, I’ve completed four pretty lengthy articles for a hospital and a university, both of which required completing several interviews. I absolutely LOVED the process of writing these articles, especially sharing the stories of those featured. I hope to continue to pick up more work like this can’t wait to share the pieces once they’re published!

3. No Plans November. For the past few months, I’ve absolutely packed my calendar. From August through the beginning of November, I didn’t have an empty weekend and most week nights are filled with dinner plans, happy hours, work events and more. The other week, I realized I didn’t have ANY post-work week day plans on my calendar for the month of November…and I consciously decided to keep it that way. I’m dubbing it “No Plans November” and I’m experimenting with my energy levels and happiness when I purposely leave my nights open for yoga, running or simply, relaxation.

4. The Temple Women’s Network is thriving. Last spring, I was part of the founding of a brand new alumnae group at Temple University- the Temple Women’s Network. This fall, I was elected president of the group and things have been gong REALLY well. We elected a board of 17 incredible women…and for the first time, the board is actually functioning as a board should. The committee members are active, the committee chairs provide the Vice President a report about their activity and that report gets sent to me. For once, I don’t have to insert myself in places I’m not really supposed to be- instead, I’m able to actually *lead* the organization and look at the bigger picture.

5. I have a vacation on the horizon! How can you not be happy when you have a vacation on the calendar? My family has started a new tradition of going away in January, which seriously, is the best month (maybe behind February) to get OUT of freezing cold, snowy Philadelphia. This year, we’re heading to Cancun and I’m already counting down the days!

6. My relationship with yoga is getting serious. I’ve been practicing hot yoga for more than a year now and have learned a ton about the practice AND myself (100 lessons, in fact). This is the first time I’m saying it publicly, but I’m contemplating yoga teacher training. The training starts March, so I’m giving myself some time to think about it, but I get butterflies at the thought of one day teaching a class…and would really relish the opportunity to deepen my practice with teacher training.

7. November is my favorite month! There’s no denying I love fall have you seen my dozens of fall foliage photos on Instagram? This is my absolute favorite time of year and November is my favorite month of the year. My favorite holiday is in November, but also, I love the energy that this month brings. Everyone seems to be working really hard, on a race to the end of the year and I feel so much motivation to kick my own self into high gear.

8. I’m learning to say no and ask for help. Learning to say no is one of the most difficult things a business owner/blogger/creative needs to learn. It’s not easy, but I’m getting better at graciously saying no to requests for my time and energy. Similarly, I’m learning to cut out activities or things that no longer serve me. I’m also working on asking for help and delegating tasks I don’t need to occupy myself with to those who know it best.

9. I truly like and know myself. It’s taken awhile to get to this point, but somewhere around the launch of this blog two years ago, I realized, “I really like myself.” After years of figuring out who I am…and sometimes trying to be someone else, I feel like I’m finally comfortable embracing my true self. I know I’ll continue to change and evolve, and that’s totally okay, but it feels good to say, “Hey. This is who I am and I really like it.”

10. I have BIG plans for 2015. I can’t even tell you how excited and nervous I am for 2015 to get here. I have big plans…plans that I can’t quite share just yet, but I’m looking forward to the new year and all it has in store. You’ll get to hear much more soon and I can’t wait to share it all! It feels good to be SO excited about the future.

Join the movement! I’d love to hear a couple of SPECTACULAR things happening right now in the comments below and I’d also encourage you to write your own post!
