Book Review: sTORI Telling by Tori Spelling

sTORI Telling Author: Tori Spelling ISBN: 9781416950738

sTORI Telling by Tori Spelling is an excellent memoir written by the former 90210 star. This book details her life from her early childhood up until the birth of her first child, Liam.

The story centers around her relationships. Relationships with her co-stars. Romantic relationships. Relationships with her father and probably most well-known, her mother. It’s no secret that Tori Spelling and her mother Candy Spelling have a rocky relationship.

90210 fans will love a sneak peak at the behind the scenes action and drama of the hit show. Spelling also discusses her countless auditions and attempts to get producers and directors to take her seriously as an actress and not just Aaron Spelling’s daughter.

Life in the limelight isn’t as easy as one may think. Spelling recounts stories of the cruel tabloids and rumors that weren’t true.

Spelling later discusses her first marriage and how she met her current husband Dean. The book ends when her first child, Liam is born.

I picked up this book because my friend Lara is obsessed with 90210 and Tori Spelling. She made me watch a few episodes of Tori and Dean and I got hooked. I decided to try this book while I was on vacation.

While I loved learning about Tori’s different relationships, I got a little annoyed at the repetitiveness of the discussion of Tori and Candy’s relationship. Obviously this is a huge part of Spelling’s life, but I grew tired of the same story over and over again. However, this did not discourage me from loving the rest of the story.

I fell even more in love with Tori Spelling after reading this book. I had never seen an episode of 90210, but the book made me want to watch it. I loved learning about Spelling’s personal life in her own voice, and not the voice of the tabloids. Spelling is completely down to earth and a hilarious writer, at that.

  1. I quite like reading autobiographies, but it depends on who the person is. Not sure I've heard much about Tori Spelling, other than she was in 90210!

  2. I read a blog a year or so ago that said this was a great book and meant to get around to reading it because I have always liked Tori for some reason. I will get around to it eventually!
